LA-based producer and live act John Rojas has officially released his debut mini-album, SKIN, out today via David Castellani‘s Noetic Music. This project marks a significant milestone for the label, serving as its first full-length artist project outside of Castellani’s own catalog. The eight-track release features a blend of original compositions and remixes from notable artists including MAEDON, Trovarsi, and Unfuckable.
Noetic Music has traditionally functioned as a platform for Castellani’s own productions and curated remix work. However, with the release of SKIN, the imprint is signaling a shift toward a broader collective identity. Conceptually, the album is deeply rooted in the human body, with each of the five original tracks—’Tongues,’ ‘Oblique,’ ‘Torso,’ ‘Mouth,’ and ‘Spleen’—named after specific anatomical parts. Rojas utilized these titles as structural devices, allowing them to shape the creative direction of his studio sessions.

Reflecting on the creative process, Rojas noted, “Each song in SKIN is not only a reflection of my anxieties, apprehensions and discomforts, but a demonstration of personal connection, enjoyment and growth. This body of work allowed me to have a staring contest with my personal and social insecurities—choosing to look for myself within the electronics instead of seeking validation.”
With a background spanning two decades in punk, hardcore, and industrial music, Rojas brings a unique, raw sensibility to his electronic debut. The record balances four-to-the-floor rhythms with fractured, broken-beat structures, intentionally preserving the spontaneity of his creative process. The project is rounded out by remixes from MAEDON, Trovarsi, and Unfuckable, further cementing the collaborative spirit of the SKIN universe.
“John is not only a close friend, but an exceptional musician, and this eight-track release feels like the perfect introduction to his work on the label,” said Castellani.
SKIN is available now across all major streaming and digital platforms.
