Kevin de Vries & Juan Elvadin Team Up for 'Obsidian' EP

Kevin de Vries has officially joined forces with Argentine producer Juan Elvadin for a compelling new two-track release titled Obsidian, now available via Adam Beyer’s esteemed label, Drumcode. This release serves as a significant milestone, marking Elvadin’s debut on the imprint and establishing him as the first artist from Argentina to release an EP on the legendary label. The project features two distinct tracks: the title track, ‘Obsidian’, and ‘Feel Me’.

For de Vries, Obsidian represents his first return to Drumcode since his 2022 collaboration with Chris Avantgarde, ‘Mind Control’, which became a defining anthem of the underground scene. The Dutch producer has spent the intervening years refining a sound that balances peak-time techno intensity with melodic, textured depth. This collaboration with Elvadin leans heavily into that atmospheric, emotive territory.

A Long-Standing Creative Connection

The synergy between the two artists is not a recent development. Their professional relationship dates back to 2019, when Elvadin was selected to support de Vries during his inaugural tour of Argentina. The tour culminated in a back-to-back performance that solidified their creative bond, leading to years of idea-sharing and eventual studio collaboration.

Exploring the Sound of ‘Obsidian’

According to Elvadin, the title track originated from a concept he shared with de Vries, who then helped refine the production into its final, polished form. ‘Obsidian’ is designed as a slow-building, atmospheric piece, perfectly suited for the deeper, later hours of a club set. The track has already garnered support from label head Adam Beyer, who featured it during his set at the Drumcode 30th-anniversary event in Mallorca earlier this year.

The second track, ‘Feel Me’, offers a more aggressive, punchy contrast. Characterized by a squelchy, rolling bassline and subtle psychedelic textures, it provides the EP with a dynamic range while maintaining the cohesive aesthetic of the duo. As Drumcode continues to champion both veteran icons and emerging regional talent in 2026, this release stands as a testament to the growing influence of South American producers on the global techno stage.
