The UK duo may be known for their innovative deep house jams, but it turns out you can’t spell Disclosure without “disco.” The famed duo returned from their indefinite hiatus in full swing this week, dropping a second single in just as many days.
Disclosure staked their claim in the 2010s with their groove-laden beats and pristine samples and thankfully, this latest release, “Tondo,” is no different. Here, they snip a gorgeous vocal cut from Cameroonian musician Eko Roosevelt for a track that is equal parts worldly, funky, and fresh. Some fans might find themselves attached to the deeper sounds of Disclosure’s earlier releases, but this sonic growth is a welcome change of pace for a group that’s looking to reintroduce themselves.
Disclosure isn’t necessarily known for pumping the brakes once it comes time to release some music, once releasing 5 tunes in 5 days. A current release schedule is unknown, but with an impromptu Kitchen Mix released earlier this week and a third album on the way, it’s worth keeping an ear to the ground.
