Following back-to-back releases “Tried Calling” and “Bag,” Gabe Drabkin drops another bomb single, titled “TILLIMFREE.” The Hip Hop and R&B singer-songwriter goes on a soul-searching journey with this new track that pushes personal boundaries and helps him battle influences that restrain him from finding freedom.
The emerging rapper looks for ways to connect with himself and discover his true voice. In a recent interview, Drabkin admitted: “Man, I love this song. Produced by Mitch Geist. I found this beat and it started a beautiful friendship with Mitch and really opened me up to my voice on more house-style instrumentals. That rap verse hits so hard.”
In the accompanying video, Gabe Drabkin has created a dreamlike world that introduces talking trees and sunflower rains. Directed by Steven Cleavland and Kyle Kadow of Found Format, the clip is shot by Spencer Ortega. Revealing his vulnerable side, the artist sings: “I ain’t tryna play no more/ I just wanna hold you close/ In the midst of the fall I fall real slow/ For your love that holds/ Girl you taking me higher.”
“My music is definitely headed in the direction of new age style r&b. Combining beautiful house instrumentals or drum and bass instrumentals and just singing pretty on them,” explains Drabkin, hoping to collaborate with the likes of Mick Jenkins and Pink Pantheress. Gabe has already worked with The Cool Kids’ Sir Michael Rocks on “I Appreciate You.”
In addition to Sir Michael Rocks, Gabe Drabkin has released music with Rocklee (“Morning Sun”) and YGTUT (“Forgiveness”). Now that “TILLIMFREE” is out, the singer is working on his upcoming projects that include five new EPs.
