A missing persons case has deeply affected the Shambhala Music Festival community as local authorities continue their search for 28-year-old Kayla Boisvert of Ontario. Law enforcement officials report that Boisvert disappeared during the early hours of Monday morning while attending the festival in Salmo, British Columbia.
The Salmo RCMP issued a formal public appeal for information on July 28. According to police reports, Boisvert was last seen at the festival grounds at approximately 2:15 a.m. Monday. Friends and family members had begun circulating information regarding her disappearance on social media platforms nearly a day earlier in an effort to gather leads.
According to her friend Ming Liu, Boisvert had been spending time with their group throughout the night. The group attended the performance by Kai Wachi at the Pagoda Stage around 12:15 a.m. before moving to the Village Stage for the Ganja White Night set at approximately 1 a.m. While the exact moment of separation remains unclear, Liu noted that the final text message received from Boisvert was sent at 3 a.m.
As the search intensifies, social media users have been instrumental in sharing photos and potential sightings. Despite these community-led efforts, she remained missing at the time of the official police appeal. Authorities describe Boisvert as six feet tall with brown eyes and black hair styled in long blonde braids. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a blue head scarf, an oversized graphic T-shirt, and multi-colored scarves. Liu added that Boisvert is of Jamaican descent and weighs between 160 and 170 pounds.
Shambhala Music Festival organizers have confirmed they are working in close coordination with the RCMP and public safety agencies to assist in the ongoing search.
