Seven Lions is taking his expansive catalog into the concert hall this fall. The producer has officially announced Opus Harmonia, a one-night-only performance featuring the Seattle Symphony at the historic Benaroya Hall on September 25. Joining the artist for this landmark event are vocalists Brieanna Grace, Dylan Matthew, Fiora, Haliene, and Jonathan Mendelsohn.
The project was developed in partnership with the Seattle Symphony’s Associate Director of Popular Programming, Andrew Joslyn. An accomplished orchestrator and composer, Joslyn has meticulously arranged 17 of Seven Lions’ tracks for a 50-piece orchestra. The initiative aims to translate the producer’s signature cinematic synth work and sweeping melodic drops into a fully symphonic setting—a feat Seven Lions has not previously attempted at this scale.
This performance marks a significant milestone for the orchestra as well. The Seattle Symphony has never collaborated with an electronic artist in this specific format, positioning Opus Harmonia as a pioneering test case for how orchestral crossovers can evolve beyond the traditional template of a DJ performing over pre-recorded string sections.
Special guest vocalists will join the orchestra throughout the evening, offering fans fresh interpretations of songs originally built around intricate vocal chops, layered synths, and heavy low-end production. Reworking such material for strings, brass, and woodwinds while maintaining the core identity of the music is the primary challenge that Joslyn’s arrangements seek to address.
The announcement follows a highly successful period for the artist. His album Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars and the companion EP The Dreams Strange and Eternal received critical acclaim, including Album of the Year honors from Dancing Astronaut and Best Album at the EDM Awards. These accolades underscore a career trajectory focused on immersive world-building rather than fleeting festival trends.
For over a decade, Seven Lions has carved out a unique lane defined by melodic dubstep and mid-tempo bass records, consistently layering his work with orchestral textures and emotional songwriting. Opus Harmonia represents the logical extreme of this evolution, finally swapping synthesized strings for the real thing.
