RENESIS: Building Worlds Through Sound, Storytelling and Cyberpunk Vision

Joining us to explore her journey, trajectory, and creativity, Producer, DJ and singer, RENESIS is here for an exclusive interview. Diving into the inspirations that fuel her artistic direction and reflecting on the moments that continue to shape her perspective on Electronic Music, she offers insight into her evolution and the ambitions guiding her path forward. From the Cyberpunk aesthetic that defines her sonic identity to the experiences that feed her creative momentum, RENESIS explores how sound design, storytelling, and expression come together in her work: refining her outlook and steadily building her presence across the Electronic Music scene.

Hi RENESIS, how are you?

I’m doing great, thanks for asking! 2025 was such a crazy adventure and ending it with OVERDRIVE, my collab with ExtraTerra, was definitely a highlight! I’m really looking forward to 2026. There are a lot of exciting things on the way!

To start, tell us about your journey – what first pulled you into the world of music?

It actually started with a poem I wrote for my first love. One day, as I sat down at my piano, it just hit me. I had to turn it into a song! I found a studio nearby, recorded it, and that moment changed everything. I fell in love with the process and realized music could be my language. I could literally translate my emotions into sound. From there, it became more than just writing songs. I started building worlds I could escape into.

When RENESIS was first taking shape, what did those early steps look like? Was there a particular turning point that pushed you into music production and performing under this alias?

After making that first song, I realized music had become my way of journaling life experiences and expressing my emotions. I kept producing more tracks after that, but for some reason, I never released them.

The real turning point came when I visited Japan for the first time. I fell in love with everything. From the amazing people and their culture to the stunning temples, the neon lights, the energy. It felt like another world. The day I came back to LA was the same day I produced ā€˜TOKYO,’ a high-energy cyberpunk track blending traditional Japanese instruments with heavy-hitting electronic sounds. I knew I wanted to share the beauty and spirit of Japan with the world, and that’s when I finally decided to release my music.

When it was time to choose an artist name, I found myself thinking back to something much earlier in my life. When I was sixteen, my first car was a Mazda RX-8. I remember asking the salesman what engine it had, expecting him to talk about specs or horsepower, but instead he said, ā€œIt has a RENESISrotary engine,ā€ and began explaining what made it so different from everything else. Growing up, I often felt like an outsider, like I wasn’t built the same way as everyone else. Hearing that this car was literally designed to be unique and unconventional stayed with me. I never expected to see a reflection of myself in a machine, but that day, I did.

You’ve already performed internationally across the US, Canada, and Japan. How have those different crowds influenced you as an artist?

Performing in different countries has shown me just how universal music is, while also highlighting how unique every crowd can be. In the U.S., the energy is loud, bold, and driven by big, heavy drops. Canada has this warm, supportive atmosphere that feels really grounding. And Japan’s respect, attentiveness, and passion create such a powerful connection.

I actually premiered my latest Japanese-inspired track, ā€˜SAKURA,’ this past August at FuelFest Japan, one of the country’s biggest motorsport events. Over 25,000 people heard it live, and the feeling was unreal. Seeing the crowd react to a track that carries so much of my love for Japan made me want to push that side of my sound even further.

Experiences like that help me understand how my music connects differently in every place and are shaping the way I approach my live sets and my artistic direction.

Looking back at your earliest releases compared to what you’re making now, how has the RENESIS sound evolved – and where do you see it heading next?

Since the beginning, the RENESIS sound has always been cinematic, emotional, and high-energy. What’s evolved is my vision, my production, and the way I tell stories through sound. I’m more confident in who I am as an artist now, and my influences from Japan, anime, video games, and car culture are woven into the music in a much stronger, more intentional way.

With every new track, I’m always asking myself: how can I take it further…? I feel like every new release is a level-up from the previous one. My sound keeps evolving, not just from constructive feedback, but from my own life experiences. Everything I go through ends up shaping the direction of what I create.

Can you give us a glimpse into your creative process when starting a new track or concept? Have you developed a go – to workflow over time, or does your approach shift depending on the mood, sound, or story you’re exploring?

I never really know where a track will go when I start it, but I know the core will always be fuelled by that intense Cyberpunk energy. I just let the worlds that come to my mind take life. Sometimes it leans more into techno, sometimes into big room or electro house, but it’s always powered by that dark, cinematic intensity.

Your music has been supported by the likes of Extra Terra, Rogue VHS, and Max Brhon. How does it feel to have your work recognized by peers in the scene – and has that energy influenced your creative direction moving forward?

It feels incredible to have support from artists whose work I genuinely admire. Knowing that Extra Terra, Rogue VHS, and Max Brhon connect with what I’m creating makes me feel like my sound truly belongs in the scene. Their support fuels me to keep evolving, experiment more, and push my sound even further. It’s inspiring to see artists who once influenced me now supporting the direction I’m heading.

You’re building a community that resonates with both the sound and the world behind it. How do you hope to continue connecting with listeners on a deeper level?

I believe cyberpunk music is the future of sound, and I want to help give it the power and visibility it deserves. From that vision, I created NEOKANTO, a cyberpunk nexus where high-energy music, impactful storytelling, and cinematic visuals collide. It’s a realm driven by emotion, fuelled by high-tech aesthetics, and forged in a dystopian future. Eventually, I want NEOKANTO to expand into real-world events, evolving from its digital form into reality as immersive, cybernetic experiences.

In a space filled with Producers, what do you feel truly sets the RENESIS sound apart?

I’d say it’s the balance between beauty and chaos. My music is built to hit hard in a club or festival setting, but there’s always that cinematic, almost narrative layer underneath it. I draw heavily from Cyberpunk aesthetics and Japanese influences, both sonically and visually, so each track feels like a world of its own rather than just another song.

I put a lot of emphasis on melody, atmosphere, and lyrics because I want my music to connect with people on a deep emotional level. Whether it’s through ethereal vocals, traditional Japanese textures, or futuristic sound design, my goal is always to create a fully immersive experience.

Finally, what’s next on the horizon for the RENESIS project? Are there specific goals or milestones you’re working toward over the next year?

What comes next is about pushing further, aiming higher, and evolving into everything RENESIS is meant to be. I’m lining up new collaborations, taking my sound to more stages, and chasing the milestone of hitting a million streams on a track. There’s also a massive project on the horizon that I can’t talk about yet… but it’s coming.

I’m ready to level up.
