Detroit Hackathon: Accelerating Change
During June, teams will have the opportunity to meet with notable figures from technology, business, arts, and sciences. They will tackle issues that small and chain businesses are facing. Some of the mentors include Steve Aoki, Tory Burch, Jean Case, and Kevin Systrom. As each week progresses, teams will present their ideas to city and community leaders in Detroit. During these weeks, they will discuss the challenges they are facing and how to solve them.
Here are the following problems each team will address straight from Forbes website.
- First week of June: “Reimagining how we can build more equitable and sustainable supply chains in order to rebound from record unemployment.”
- Second week of June: Sustaining and adapting small businesses, the backbone of the economy, with an emphasis on business owners and entrepreneurs of color who have been disproportionately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.”
- Third week of June: Bridging the digital divide, which complements the Rocket Mortgage Classic’s “Changing the Course” multi-year campaign, committed to ensuring every resident has access to technology.”
- End of June: The month-long effort will be capped with a virtual celebration and finale.”
The city of Detroit wants to take back their home and fix the problems the coronavirus has caused. Forbes and Quicken Loans are there to provide the resources and opportunities to make it happen.
