Global music nomad Lil Wolf has released his latest EP, Nomad Tapes: Africa, a seven-track collection created entirely during his travels across the continent. The project blends African rhythms, local voices, and electronic textures, offering a fluid exploration of sound shaped by cultural exchange.
The EP opens with “Undone,” an Afro-house track that pairs a deep, driving bassline with ethereal synths and repetitive vocal lines. The song reflects Lil Wolf’s interest in exploring personal growth and emotional truth through music, balancing danceable grooves with introspective undertones.
Collaboration plays a key role throughout the project. On “Kukud'ekhaya Pt II,” Lil Wolf works with the Thanda Choir, merging their harmonies with his electronic production to create a heightened, spiritual feel. Other tracks, including “Illusions,” “Harmony,” and “Ithemba,” involve contributions from Onset Music Group, highlighting a dynamic exchange between African musical traditions and Wolf’s global electronic approach.
Originally from Canada and now based in Los Angeles, Lil Wolf is a Juno Award–winning producer with more than 20 albums and numerous credits in film and video games. With the Lil Wolf project, he has shifted focus from production to performance and presence, pursuing a more direct, human connection with listeners. His previous EP, Relationships 1.0, showed early signs of this transition, with “Love Me Harder” surpassing 870,000 views on YouTube.
Looking ahead, Lil Wolf is planning new projects in Bali, Vietnam, and Berlin, continuing his pattern of travel-driven creation. Each location provides opportunities to connect with local artists, absorb regional rhythms, and translate these experiences into music.
Nomad Tapes: Africa is now available on all streaming platforms.
