Fatima Hajji is making her first appearance on Insomniac Music Group’s Mutate Records, with her debut single ‘I’m Feeling’ set for release on July 24. The track marks a significant new outlet for the Spanish-Moroccan producer, who has spent the last several years building a reputation as one of hard techno’s most distinctive voices.
‘I’m Feeling’ is built around a relentless schranz foundation, pairing rapid-fire percussion and heavyweight kicks with piercing synths, sweeping effects, and rising waves of white noise. The elements stack on top of each other to create a charged, warehouse-ready sound designed for peak-time sets.
A distorted vocal sample threads through the entire record, looping into a hypnotic refrain that gives the track its disorienting, almost trance-like quality even as the drums stay relentless underneath.
Born in Salamanca, Hajji has carved out her own lane within hard techno by blending industrial textures with tribal rhythms and African influences, while also pulling from her Arab heritage. That mix has become something of a signature for her, separating her productions from a lot of the straightforward schranz and hard techno flooding the scene right now.
Her work has picked up support from a fairly heavyweight list of peers, including Charlotte de Witte, Carl Cox, Amelie Lens, I Hate Models, Monika Kruse, and Deborah De Luca. She’s also built out a collaborative catalogue with artists like Hector Oaks, further cementing her ties to the European hard dance underground.
The release comes on the heels of her Face 2 Face set alongside Cera Khin at Verknipt’s Ziggo Dome event, one of the bigger stages she’s played this year. Hajji’s summer schedule stays busy from here, with stops lined up at Time Warp, Awakenings, Kappa FuturFestival, Monegros Desert Festival, Aquasella, and Medusa. She’s also continuing her Fatima Hajji Invites events and holds a residency with Pyramid at Amnesia Ibiza.
Mutate Records, Insomniac’s imprint focused on harder, faster styles within the techno spectrum, has been steadily expanding its roster with artists pushing the genre’s more aggressive edges. Hajji’s addition fits that mold, giving the label another name capable of translating well to both festival mainstages and underground warehouse settings.
