Nejvex & KIDMAN Drop Emotionally-Charged Single ‘Heartless’

Czech producer Nejvex and Australian singer-songwriter KIDMAN have joined forces for ‘Heartless,’ a melodic bass-driven single that hits streaming platforms today via SLANDER’s Heaven Sent imprint.

The collaboration serves as the lead track from their upcoming EP together, capturing what happens when two artists from opposite ends of the genre spectrum find common ground in emotionally-charged dance music.

An LA Connection

The partnership began at ICON Collective in Los Angeles, where both artists relocated to pursue music full-time. Despite Nejvex’s heavy electronic background and KIDMAN’s pop-driven approach, they discovered a shared love for pop-infused EDM that defines their collaborative sound

“Heartless” tackles the messy aftermath of a toxic relationship, with KIDMAN’s confessional rap delivery painting polarized images of a former partner over Nejvex’s intricate production work.

Production Breakdown

The track opens with wistful piano chords and cinematic alt-rock builds before dropping into a melodic trap section featuring swinging horn leads and glitch-textured sub-bass growls. Nejvex crafts a sonic landscape that oscillates between luminous melody and darker low-end passages, mirroring the push-and-pull dynamic of unhealthy relationships.

Touching on why the fusion of their two styles fit so seamlessly, Nejvex shares: “I think the collaboration came about pretty naturally. We come from opposite ends of the spectrum genre-wise; he loves the pop world and I’ve always been into more heavy electronic music. But we both have a shared love for pop-driven EDM. ‘Heartless’ is the perfect combination of both of our worlds, encompassing both bass and pop in a super unique way.

Delving deeper into the origin story, KIDMAN recounts: “The topline for ‘Heartless’ was originally a last minute homework assignment. Milo [Nejvex] later asked me if he could take it and do some things with it. He sat at the kitchen table for the next few hours, slaving away at the song. I went to the hot tub and when I came back, he’d already made a drop and rough arrangement. It sounded crazy.
